Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anazi, the new Saudi ambassador to Iran, arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to begin his duties, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Al-Anazi stated the directions of the Saudi leadership underlined the need to bolster relations and step-up contact and meetings between the Kingdom and Iran upon his arrival in the Iranian capital.
He continued by saying that the Kingdom wants to expand the scope of relations between the two neighboring nations given their shared economic interests, natural resources, and other advantages that contribute to the region’s growth, prosperity, stability, and security as well as the welfare of the two nations’ respective populations.
The ambassador emphasized that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 serves as a roadmap for all areas of cooperation that can be improved in line with a strategic perspective that establishes the values of good neighborliness, understanding, purposeful dialogue, and respect to increase mutual trust between the two countries.
Following years of hostilities between the two nations, Saudi Arabia and Iran decided to reestablish diplomatic ties and reopen their embassies in March.
