Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said the BNP is adamant on demand for a non-partisan government and restructuring the Election Commission. In that case, there is no chance of a new dialogue with the BNP or any other political party regarding the next national parliament election.
He said that BNP had been requested several times to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. But the BNP has always rejected the requests.
He said this at noon on Thursday (December 22) at the Patuakhali District Commissioner’s conference room after an exchange meeting with the election officers.
“I have seen in various newspapers they have asked the Election Commission to withdraw. Still, they will be urged to participate in the elections. If there is a constitution, there will be elections,” said CEC.
