“North Korea Calls US Military Aid to Ukraine an ‘Incredible Mistake’

North Korea, which has been charged with providing weapons to Russia without authorization, declared on Sunday that the United States’ $8 billion military aid to Ukraine is “an incredible mistake” and that it is playing with fire when it comes to Russia, a nuclear powerhouse.

While visiting Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced new aid from US President Joe Biden to support Kyiv’s self-defence, including the provision of longer-range weapons that will improve the country’s capacity to attack Russia from a safer distance.

Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, claimed that Washington is intensifying the Ukraine crisis and bringing all of Europe perilously close to nuclear war.

“Russia’s serious warning should not be dismissed or underestimated by the United States and the West,” Kim stated in a statement released by the official news agency KCNA.

“Are the United States and the West really able to handle the consequences as they recklessly play with fire against Russia, which is a nuclear superpower?” said she.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has threatened to use nuclear weapons if missiles attack his nation and to regard any attack by a nuclear power as a joint operation.

Announcing the new $8 billion in military aid was “an incredible mistake and foolish act,” according to Kim, and supporting Zelensky in his continued military adventure is a risky and reckless gamble.

Kim, a member of the ruling Workers’ Party of North Korea, frequently expresses Pyongyang’s opinions on political and security issues in remarks that are deemed authorized by the nation’s supreme leader.

In the past year, relations between North Korea and Russia have significantly improved after their leaders met twice and decided on a “comprehensive strategic partnership” that includes a commitment to mutual defense.

According to the United States, North Korea has sent at least 16,500 weapons-related containers to Russia since September of last year, and Russia has fired missiles at Ukraine from those shipments.

Russia and North Korea both reject any illicit arms trade.
