Northeastern India Gets Access to 4 Transshipment Routes in Bangladesh

A contract between Bangladesh and India will allow traders in the northeastern states of India to use four of Bangladesh’s transshipment routes.

The two nations struck an agreement allowing Indian traders to utilize the Chittagong and Mongla ports in Bangladesh for the shipping of products, Tripura state minister of industries and commerce Santana Chakma said to the media.

The minister said that the government of Bangladesh had authorized Tripura and other northeastern states to transship products via four routes.

The four protocol routes are Chattogram-Port-Akhaura-Agartala; Mongla-Port-Akhaura-Agartala; Chattogram-Bibirbazar-Srimantapur; and Chattogram-Bibirbazar-Srimantapur.
