Metropolis Report-

BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology) will power 25% of its infrastructure with solar energy.

BUET recently signed a contract with Genex Infrastructure Limited to install the roof-top solar panels.

According to the deal, Genex will provide 24 of BUET’s 100 buildings with rooftop solar panel systems as an alternate power source.

These systems would have a 3 Mega Watt maximum generation capacity.

Genex will also extend financing to Energy Performance Contracting (EPC), an innovative method of capital improvement that enables funding for cost-effective energy upgrades, under BUET’s supervision.

Under the agreement, for the next 25 years, BUET will use Genex’s electricity and pay the bill at a pre-agreed rate that is less expensive than the current DPDC rate.
