There have been reports of bomb threats sent by email to up to 44 schools in Delhi, the capital of India.
However, Indian broadcaster NDTV reports that the police verified it was a hoax following extensive investigations.
Police PRO in Delhi The department is giving every school and student’s safety and security top priority, Sanjay Tyagi promised.
“We will soon reach the source of the email and take action against it,” said the official.
Responses were prompt, with 44 schools targeted, including GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar and DPS RK Puram. We notified the police and sent the students home.
Multiple bombs were planted inside the school buildings, according to the email sent at 11:38 p.m. on Sunday, which NDTV said it obtained a copy of.
The email demanded $30,000 to defuse the bombs, stating, “The bombs are small and hidden very well.”
The sender also made the following threat: “Once the bombs go off, many people will be hurt, but the building won’t sustain much damage. Losing limbs and suffering is something you all deserve.
To determine the sender, Delhi Police are now looking into the email’s IP address.
The alert caused chaos during the busy morning hours as school buses arrived and assemblies were getting ready.
GD Goenka School reported the threat to the Delhi Fire Department at 6:15 a.m. and DPS RK Puram at 7:06 a.m.
After that, local police, dog squads, and bomb detection teams searched the schools, but they were unable to locate any suspicious objects, according to a police official.
After expressing dissatisfaction with the state of law and order in the capital, former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal pressed Home Minister Amit Shah for clarification.
Kejriwal wrote on social media platform X, “Delhi residents have never witnessed such a poor state of law and order in Delhi before.” Amit Shahji ought to visit Delhi and respond to the populace.
The BJP-led central government has also come under fire from Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena for the increase in crimes like murder, ransom demands, shootings, and bomb threats in the city.
There has never been a worse state of law and order in Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government has failed in its sole responsibility of ensuring the safety of Delhi residents, she wrote.
