With the financial situation getting worse, Pakistan announced severe spending cuts. The Pakistani government has decided to reduce ministers’ compensation. The salary reduction for ministers was determined at a cabinet meeting presided by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The government ceased covering the ministers’ costs. All ministers who drive posh cars must give them back. There can only be one escort car per minister. Five-star hotel VIP stays are no longer available.

Every VIP trip is taken in economy class. Pakistan had already been urged to implement stringent cost-cutting measures, including by the IMF. Following this, the Pakistani government made a difficult choice.

Pakistan has reportedly asked Afghanistan for assistance in dismantling terrorist organizations, according to another piece of news coming out of Pakistan. The team from Pakistan came in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and demanded that Pakistan contribute to the repression of terrorist organizations like the Taliban and the Islamic State.

Defense Minister of Pakistan Kaja Asif is in charge of the group. The deputy prime minister of Afghanistan, Abdul Ghani Baradar, was discussed. Pakistan assumes that terrorist organizations in Afghanistan are responsible for the ongoing attacks on its citizens. This context informs the dialogue. Pakistan also bemoans the Afghan Taliban government’s aiding the Pakistani Taliban.
