Speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the Gaza war, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to visit Moscow, according to a Palestinian envoy.
Abbas will arrive on Monday and see Putin on Tuesday, according to the Palestinian ambassador in Moscow, as reported by Russia’s TASS news agency.
The Palestinian movement led by Abbas, Fatah, is an adversary of Hamas.
The leaders will talk about what has happened in Gaza after the attacks on Israel on October 7, according to Ambassador Abdel Hafiz Nofal.
Russia’s role and possible solutions will be discussed. Russia is a near neighbor, and we are in a really tough situation, he continued. Consultation between us is necessary.
For many years, Moscow made an effort to maintain cordial ties with all of the key Middle Eastern parties, including Israel and the Palestinians.
However, Putin has become more allied with Iran and Hamas in the wake of the Israel-Hamas conflict and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Kremlin has called for moderation and frequently chastised Israel’s response to the strikes on October 7.
Additionally, on Sunday, the Israeli army and emergency services reported that a shooting in the occupied West Bank had left one civilian dead and another injured.
According to an emergency services statement, medical personnel “pronounced a man in his 20s dead” and removed a 33-year-old man via helicopter “with gunshot wounds to his lower limbs.”
The slain individual was identified as an Israeli citizen by the IDF.
An army statement said that “terrorists opened fire from a passing vehicle at a number of vehicles in the area.”
“An Israeli civilian lost their life in the attack, and another Israeli civilian was hurt and is currently receiving medical attention.”Troops have started hunting down the terrorists, barring their paths and thoroughly searching the region.
The northern West Bank’s Jordan Valley is where the attack happened.
