Today is the fourteenth anniversary of the Pilkhana massacre. On behalf of the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, wreaths of flowers were laid at the graves of the fallen army officers in the military cemetery in Banani at 9:00 am.
Asaduzzaman Khan, the home minister, the heads of the three armed forces, the BGB director general, and the loved ones of the killed officers all paid their respects to the deceased.
According to a BGB news release from yesterday, to commemorate the occasion, Quran-khwani, doa, and milad mahfil would be held in mosques at the headquarters, as well as all other units and border outposts.
On February 25 and 26, 2009, the Pilkhana headquarters of the formerly Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in the capital was the scene of a mutiny that resulted in the deaths of 74 persons, including 57 army officials.
