Metropolis Report-
Two initiatives by the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) to tackle climate change have been approved by the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The $30 million “Extended Community Climate Change Project-Drought (ECCCP-Drought)” project aims to increase resilience in drought-prone areas, while the $50 million “Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL)” project aims to improve climate resilience for coastal communities.
The RHL project will provide funding for climate-resilient housing and livelihood solutions, educating 362,475 disadvantaged individuals in seven coastal districts about the effects of climate change.
Over 215,000 people in three drought-prone districts would benefit from the ECCCP-Drought project’s installation of water infrastructure, re-excavation of ponds and canals, and planting of drought-tolerant crop varieties.
