Manipuri design Kalabati sarees, the first ever in Bangladesh, have been created by weaver Radhavati Devi of Moulvibazar using the fiber of the banana plant

Kalabati sarees and other items made of banana plant fiber were presented to prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
In the cabinet room of the Prime Minister’s Office, Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parveen Tibriji presented the PM with three of these sarees as well as two jewelry boxes. Manipuri design Kalabati sarees, the first ever in Bangladesh, have been created by weaver Radhavati Devi of Moulvibazar using the fiber of the banana plant.
3 sarees were given to the prime minister by Bandarban weavers Anjali Devi and Dutta Singh. The DC of Bandarban also gave the prime minister a customized Machang model of a hillside residential shelter, a district brand calendar, and a brand book.
