The missile that hit the Polish village is believed to have been fired from Ukraine.
Three US officials gave that impression based on a preliminary review, reports BBC.
On Tuesday, two people were killed in a missile attack on a village in Poland bordering Ukraine. Ukraine immediately blamed Russia for the attack. Polish President Andrzej Duda also said there was no conclusive evidence about who fired the missile.
US media said, quoting the three US officials, that the Ukrainian forces in Poland fired the missile. The missile was fired to intercept a Russian missile. The three officials declined to be named as they were not authorized to speak publicly.
After yesterday’s attack, the US-led military alliance NATO and the G-7 alliance of industrialized democratic countries called an emergency meeting.
After the emergency meeting of NATO leaders on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden also said that the missile in Poland was unlikely to have been launched from Russia.
