Metropolis Report-
To prevent untoward incidents before Victory Day, the Police Headquarters ordered the field-level officers to begin a 15-day special drive across the nation yesterday.
The directives were issued to ensure that no unfavorable incident occurs on Martyred Intellectuals’ Day, Victory Day, or other significant days, police said.
An order issued by the operations wing of the PHQ on November 29 instructed all police chiefs and district superintendents of police to execute the drive between December 1 and 15.
According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the directives were issued in response to the November 20 escape of two militants sentenced to death.
Hotels, messes, hostels, community centers, and other potential hiding places for criminals should be raided.
The PHQ instructed the field-level officers to detain fugitives, drug dealers, addicts, and militants in addition to seizing illegal weapons.
The campaign has already begun, according to police. BNP leaders claim that police are detaining party members and searching their homes.
According to sources, the DMP has stopped official vacations for the upcoming two months.
