Over 5,000 followers of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir have been charged by the police in Dhaka with two offenses related to fights with police following the passing of convicted war criminal Delwar Hossain Sayedee.
In the case, Masud Sayedee is one of the defendants. Four named suspects and over 5,000 unnamed suspects were reported by the Shahbagh police station, while 16 named suspects and 150 unnamed sympathizers were reported by the Paltan police station.
To maintain control, police used 519 rounds of sound grenades, rubber bullets, pellets, tear gas canisters, kinetic projectiles, and grenades.
