At a depth of 51 kilometers (32 miles), an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 occurred off the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka area, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) on Saturday.
According to the US National Tsunami Warning Center, the earthquake posed a risk of tsunamis.
However, the Russian emergency ministry’s Kamchatka division stated that there was no risk of a tsunami and that the magnitude of the recorded aftershocks following the earthquake ranged from 3.9 to 5.0.
According to the provincial emergency administration, “the majority of the aftershocks are imperceptible” on Telegram.
