Metropolis Report-
In a lawsuit brought under the Digital Security Act (DSA) with the Ramna Police Station, Prothom Alo reporter Samsuzzaman Shams was granted bail up till the filing of the police report.
According to Chaitanya Chandra Halder, a lawyer representing Shams, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor of Dhaka granted him bail in exchange for a Tk 20,000 bond and the signatures of two guarantors.
If he is not shown to be arrested in another case reported to Tejgaon Police Station, there is no legal restriction on his release, the attorney claimed.
Shams’ legal representatives submitted the bail plea to the court earlier. Shams requested bail for the case a second time at this time.
Shams was brought before a different court on Thursday after the charge was filed against him, and that judge declined to grant him bail.
