Samsuzzaman Shams, a reporter for Prothom Alo, was denied bail in a DSA (Digital Security Act) case and was jailed by a court in Dhaka.
As Shams was brought before the court on Thursday, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Tofazzal Hossain of Dhaka issued the decision, according to court sources.
Shams was brought before the court by the Ramna Police Station after a complaint was on Wednesday filed against him under the DSA.
Together with Shams, other people identified in the DSA case filed with the police station were Prothom Alo Editor and Publisher Matiur Rahman, an unnamed assistant cameraman, and unnamed others.
A few hours prior to being picked up from his Savar residence, Shams was initially sued under the DSA in another case submitted to the Tejgaon Police Station early Wednesday morning.
