The news channel NDTV India revealed in an internal email on Wednesday that journalist Ravish Kumar had left his position as senior executive editor.
His resignation, according to NDTV, took effect right away. Few journalists have had the kind of impact that Ravish has, according to the mail. This is evident from the overwhelmingly positive feedback about him, including the large crowds he draws everywhere, the numerous honors and acclaim he has earned both domestically and abroad, and his daily reports, which defend the rights and needs of those underserved.
Kumar earned the Ramon Magsaysay Award in September 2019 for using journalism to give voice to the voiceless.
According to the Ramon Magasaysay Foundation, Kumar was honored for his unwavering commitment to professional, ethical journalism of the highest standards; his moral courage in standing up for truth, integrity, and independence; and his principled belief that journalism fulfills its noblest aims to advance democracy by giving full and respectful voice to the voiceless and in speaking truth bravely yet soberly to power.
A day after the news channel informed the Bombay Stock Exchange in a regulatory filing that its founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy had resigned as directors of RRPR Holding Private Limited, Kumar’s resignation was made public.
