The High Court today voiced its extreme worry about the pasting of posters on the walls of various buildings, including the flyovers in Dhaka.
“Despite there being a rule forbidding such conduct, it hurts us to see that posters are plastered all over the walls of the flyovers. The flyovers’ wall-mounted posters must be taken down,” it said.
The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Ahmed Sohel declared at the hearing of a writ case that every citizen has a right to open space.
The court ordered the responsible parties to remove all the graffiti and posters off the walls of the seven flyovers in Dhaka within two weeks.
The court further ordered the authorities to organize a monitoring committee in this regard within a week and to take the proper legal action against anyone guilty of such activities.
