Metropolis Report-
To provide premium helmets within the reach of people’s budgets, RFL group has introduced motorcycle helmets to the market for the first time in the nation.
The Durable Plastic Limited facility in Palash, Narsingdi, which is a subsidiary of the RFL Group, is where this helmet is made. Over 120,000 pieces can be produced in the factory each year. The initial investment in this factory was roughly Tk 20 crore.
The country’s annual helmet market is currently worth more than Tk 500 crore. In Bangladesh, imports make up almost the entire helmet market. India accounts for over 60% of imported helmets, with China accounting for the remaining 40%.
On Thursday, RN Paul, managing director of RFL Group, showed the outside of a helmet bearing the “Safemet” logo.
In his remarks, RN Paul noted that a helmet is a crucial piece of equipment for bikers. According to the country’s current rules, cyclists and passengers are required to wear helmets in addition to safeguarding their safety. The number of motorbike owners in Bangladesh is rising daily for a variety of factors, such as socioeconomic situations and lifestyle modifications. The need for helmets is also increasing for the same reason.
He added that the majority of the imported helmets weren’t of standard grade and that practically all of the helmets that are available in Bangladesh are imported. The Safemet helmet is the only one in Bangladesh that has BSTI certification. All passengers should wear a standard helmet when traveling. In this situation, RFL created a helmet company. The primary goal of starting this business is to provide premium helmets within the reach of consumers’ budgets.
Toukirul Islam, executive director of Durable Plastic Limited, stated during the ceremony that the key characteristic of the Safemet helmet is that it is composed of cutting-edge PC and ABS materials. It includes a belt and locking system of excellent quality. A sophisticated ventilation system is also there to assure the user’s comfort.
He added that there is a strategy to export Safemet helmets once the demands of the nation have been met. A few overseas customers have already visited the factory and expressed satisfaction with the method of manufacturing.
There will initially be two different types of helmets on the market. The full-face helmet’s suggested retail price is Tk2,250, while the half-face helmet’s suggested retail price is Tk1,400.
