A court in Dhaka approved Ruhul Kabir Rizvi’s request to sit for his LLM (Master’s) exams inside the jail. On receiving a request from his lawyer Zaynul Abedin Meshbah, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury issued the order, according to court sources.
The test will be held on January 12, 13, and 19. In a case reported to Paltan Model Police Station regarding a clash between BNP men and police on December 7 in Dhaka’s Nayapaltan, the BNP leader was detained on December 8 from the party office.
In the application, Zaynul claimed that his client had an LLB degree and was actively practicing law. He recently got admission to Prime University in order to pursue an LLM degree. In accordance with the Jail Code, he needs authorization from the court to take the exam.
After the hearing, the magistrate gave the jail officials instructions to make the necessary preparations so that Rizvi may take the exam while being held in custody.
