Early on Saturday, two groups clashed in a camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya upazila, and a 60-year-old Rohingya man was shot and killed in the process.
Syed Alam, a resident of Kutupalong camp No. 8 and a former night guard for the camp, was recognized as the deceased.
Syed was injured when the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) exchanged gunfire over control of the camp at around 1:00 am, said Ukhiya Police.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced ‘brought dead’. The body was taken for an autopsy at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital mortuary. Drives are ongoing to apprehend the offenders, according to police.
