This morning, a professor at Rajshahi University (RU) began a hunger strike in protest of what he called widespread abuse of students by Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders and activists across the nation.
Around 10:00 am, the economics professor, Prof. Farid Uddin Khan, began a seven-hour strike in front of Zoha Chattor on campus.
“We noticed an increase in these instances across the nation. Leaders of the BCL have a history of tormenting students, kicking them out of residence halls, and demanding money. Human rights are being violated. It is not acceptable,” he said.
“I feel it is my moral obligation as a teacher to resist it and support the students,” he added.
