The military ministry announced on Monday that Kotliarivka, further north in the Kharkiv region, and Soloviove, in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, are now under Russian control.
The General Staff report issued by the Ukrainian military that evening had no mention of either location. Kotliarivka, which is close to the town of Kupiansk, was one of numerous places that saw Russian bombardment, according to Oleh Syniehubov, the regional governor of Kharkiv, on Monday.
However, it seemed that Ukrainian bloggers accepted that both villages were under Russian control.
A well-known discussion site on the conflict, DeepState, reported on Saturday that Russian forces had taken Kotliarivka and on Sunday that they also held control of our neighbor, Kyslivka.
According to DeepState, Russian soldiers seized Soloviove last week, which is northwest of the town of Avdiivka which is under Russian control.
Since capturing Avdiivka in February, Moscow’s soldiers have advanced gradually, capturing several nearby settlements.
