For the 94th time, a Dhaka court on Thursday postponed filing the inquiry report into the shocking deaths of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashedul Alam set the new deadline for January 4, 2023. The RAB official in charge of the case investigation failed to turn in the report on Thursday and requested an extension.
On October 31, the court postponed submitting the investigation report for the 93rd time. On February 11, 2012, the bodies of Sagar Sarowar, news editor for Maasranga Television, and Meherun Runi, senior reporter for ATN Bangla, were discovered in their rented residence in Dhaka’s West Rajabazar neighborhood.
The following day, Runi’s brother Nousher Ali Roman reported the incident to the Sher-e-Bangla police station. Eight persons have been detained by the police in the double murder so far. They are Tanvir, Rafiqul Islam, Bakul Mia, Abu Syed, Mintu alias Baggira Mintu alias Masum Mintu, Quamrul Hasan alias Arun, security guard Enam Ahmed alias Humayun Kabir and Palash Rudra Pal.
