A higher court in Shillong dismissed the case brought against BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed for trespassing into India more than three years ago and allowed him to return home.
On March 10, 2015, Salahuddin went missing from Dhaka. He was discovered hanging around in Shillong on May 11, three months later, according to Meghalaya police.
Salahuddin informed the Meghalaya police that he was taken from his Uttara house in Dhaka on March 10 by a gang of individuals posing as investigators after being apprehended in Shillong.
He claimed an SUV drove him to Shillong after an almost overnight journey, but he was unable to specify where the car began or who was in it. He was reportedly blindfolded when he was dropped off by a vehicle in Shillong’s Golf Link neighborhood, according to his relatives.
