Seven hours after being picked up by ‘law enforcement agency’, a journalist in Satkhira was shown arrested in sabotage case filed by police.
He was arrested in a case under the Explosives Act at Debhata Police Station.
Journalist Raghunath Kha was arrested along with a bomb-like object from the Khalishakhali area of Debhata Police Station on Monday evening, said police.
Two more people were also detained the same time.
Earlier on Monday, around 10:30 am, Raghunath was picked up from the Day Night College junction on Satkhira Borobazar road by some people in the name of the law enforcement agency, his wife Supriya Rani Khan said.
Son of late Madanmohan Kha of Bishnupur village in Kaliganj upazila, Raghunath is Satkhira correspondent of Daily Bangla 71 and Deepto TV. He lives in a rented house in the Katia Laskarpara area of Satkhira town.
The other arrestees are Rezaul Islam, son of Fajar Ali of Dhebukhali village of Debhata upazila in Satkhira and Lutfar Rahman, son of Nowsher Ali of Chaltetola area of the same upazila.
Sub-inspector Laal Chand of the police station filed the sabotage case against the three. Nineteen other unidentified people have also been accused in the case.
Supriya Rani Khan said her husband Raghunath Monday morning went to Khalishakhali area in Debhata on a rented motorcycle to cover a news. After returning from there, he was arrested from the Day Night College intersection around 10:30 pm.
Two people posing as members of law enforcement asked him to get off the motorcycle and then took him to another motorcycle, she said.
Contacted, police said that they did not know anything. Later, she filed a general diary with Sadar Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debhata Police Station Obaidul Islam said on information, police arrested them objects resembling cocktails in Khalishakhali area of Debhata.
