Following a lengthy 37-day yearly vacation, the Supreme Court’s Appellate and High Court Divisions will both reopen on Sunday.
In addition to 52 distinct HC benches with 82 judges each, the Appellate Division, which is composed of six judges and is presided over by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, will carry out judicial duties.
Every week for three days — Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday — Justice M Enayetur Rahim will serve as the chamber judge of the Supreme Court to handle urgent matters.
The newly appointed CJ Obaidul Hassan, who was sworn in on September 26, will be honored on the day of the court’s reopening at 10:30 am in the Chief Justice’s Courtroom by representatives of the attorney general’s office and the Supreme Court Bar Association, according to SC sources.
