Severe Drone Attack on Moscow, All Airports Shut Down

Ukraine has carried out a massive drone attack on Russia’s capital, Moscow. This marks the second consecutive night that Moscow has been targeted by Ukrainian drone strikes. Following the latest attack, four major airports in Moscow have been temporarily closed.

Additionally, Russia claims to have downed several Ukrainian drones. This information was shared by the British news outlet BBC on Tuesday, May 6.

The report states that Moscow is facing its second consecutive night of drone attacks from Ukraine. Russia’s aviation regulatory agency, Rosaviatsiya, confirmed that, for security reasons, four major airports in Moscow—Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky—have been temporarily shut down. Moscow’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, reported that at least 19 Ukrainian drones coming from different directions were shot down. However, some drone debris fell onto a major highway in the city, although there were no reported casualties.

Ukraine has yet to comment on the reports of the attack on Moscow. After the strike, local authorities in Ukraine’s Sumy region, near the border with Russia, have ordered the evacuation of residents from two settlements. This move is believed to be a precautionary measure against a potential Russian retaliatory strike.

It is worth noting that in August of the previous year, Ukraine launched a surprising operation in the Kursk region, gaining control over some areas. However, Russia later claimed to have regained full control of the region. Ukraine, on the other hand, maintains that its forces are still active in the Kursk area.
