‘Ityadi’-famed singer Akbar passed away. Innalillahi Wainnailahi Raziun.
He breathed his last on Sunday (November 13) afternoon. Akbar’s wife, Kaniz Fatema, confirmed the news.
He had been on life support at the capital’s BIRDEM Hospital for the last few days due to his deteriorating physical condition. Akbar breathed his last there.
He had been undergoing treatment for so long. He had diabetes. Jaundice, kidney problems, inflammation of the blood, and other physical complications had settled in the body for two years. The singer had been bedridden since January.
He was supposed to be taken to India for better treatment. Akbar had been suffering from kidney disease and was treated several times in the country and beyond. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated Tk 20 lakh for his treatment.
Akbar used to pull a rickshaw in Jashore before coming into prominence as a singer. Although Akbar was born in Paikgacha, Khulna, he grew up in Jashore.
