“On December 16, 1971, the independent, sovereign Bengali nation came into being. The victory was achieved at the cost of 30 lakh martyrs and the honor of our 2 lakh mothers and sisters through a bloody battle. Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman was the commander-in-chief of our great liberation war, responding to whose call woke up the crores of Bengalis.”
As the chief gues, Bogura Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudip Kumar Chakraborty said this at a discussion in Bogura Police Lines School and College marking the Victory Day on Friday morning.
Shahadat Alam Jhunu, principal of the institution, presided over the programme.
The chief guest gave prizes to the winners of various competitions as well as unveiled the Vijay Nishan mural.
In his speech, the SP also said, “On this day of victory, we have to pledge to unite against all evil forces. We should all take the country to the highest peak in the world. The seeds of liberation war must be sown among the students from the very beginning. Students should be raised in the spirit of the great liberation war.”
Lecturer Kamrul Hasan delivered the welcome speech on the occasion under the presentation of Police Lines School and College teacher Mehedi Hasan. Apart from that, Syeda Rubaba Mehreen and SubhaTasnim Sithi, the students of Bogura Police Lines School and College, sang songs and recited poems on the great Victory Day.
At the end of the discussion, the prizes were distributed among the winners of the painting and badminton competitions by the honorable chief guest.
