Balipara Foundation, India’s environmental organization, has presented an award to Hawladar Azad Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of the Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Center, Sundarbans, for his outstanding contribution to the conservation of the world’s endangered species of wildlife using environmentally sustainable innovations. Balipara Foundation Award was given to 15 people from the country and abroad in a ceremony at the Independent University Auditorium of the capital yesterday.
Howladar Azad Kabir said that in the Sundarbans Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Center, saltwater crocodiles and BatagurBaska turtles are produced through breeding to save them from extinction. Eco-sustainable innovations are used to help hatchlings born in these centers adapt to the environment and survive.
Already 500 hatchlings of endangered saltwater species and 600 of Batagur Baska turtle have been born at the Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Centre. These hatchlings are raised and freed in the rivers. That is why the Balipara Foundation of India gave him the award.
