Tamima Nasrin works to protect women and children from gender-based violence. She is making people aware of it, going to remote areas to prevent gender-based discrimination and assault. A human rights activist and development worker, Tamima worked as a District Facilitator at the United Nations Population Fund Bangladesh in the position of District facilitator of Bogura .
In addition, she has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Inspiring Women Award and the United Nations Country Champion Volunteers Award, in recognition of her contribution.
Tamima continues her work, forming a voluntary organization called ‘SheEqual.’ Through this organization, they are working for the advancement of women, girls and children rights.
To protect the victims of rape and sexual assault, her organization ‘SheEqual’ has started the National campaign titled ‘Support the Survivors’ in Bogura. This campaign was inaugurated at Bogura Sadar Police Station around 11 am on Thursday. At the same time, the activities of the campaign started in the Shajahanpur and Kahaloo police stations of the same district. Such activities will gradually continue in other police stations across the country.
According to the ‘SheEqual’ sources, 18 directives were given by the honorable High Court in 2016 regarding rape victim’s protection and handling rape cases at police stations. Needless to say, through this campaign, the awareness of those instructions for the concerned officers at the police stations will be increased along with receiving skill development training. Furthermore, creating mass awareness against rape and sexual assault also another core objectives of this campaign.
‘SheEqual’ Chief Executive Officer Tamima Nasrin said this campaign had been launched to ensure legal assistance along with confirming other necessary protections for the victims of rape and sexual assault coming to the police stations to file a complaint.
