After Lionel Messi left the Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain lost a million Instagram followers.
Messi won two consecutive French championships during his two years at Parc des Princes. However, his final campaign has been plagued by fan anger; on Saturday night, the Argentine was booed as he went forward to get his winner’s gold.
Messi has experienced many problems during his two years in the French metropolis. The PSG supporters’ once-dream acquisition turned sour, leading to frequent jeers and protests against him and his teammate Neymar. Messi’s suspension by PSG and his departure for a sponsored trip to Saudi Arabia over the past few months have only made matters worse.
Messi is currently leaving PSG, and it has been suggested that he would go back to Barcelona or go to Saudi Arabia. Given that his departure was announced before to Saturday’s loss to Clermont, it looks like PSG is already feeling the impact of the superstar’s loss.
That originated from their Instagram account, which has resulted in a one million decrease in the club’s following there.
