Mehraj Hossain Fahim, the intern doctor, who was stabbed in Bogura, succumbed to his injury. He died at Ever Care Hospital in Dhaka around 8:30 am on Sunday.
The 26-year-old was an intern doctor at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. He was a fourth-year MBBS student at SZMC. He was stabbed on Link Road in front of SZMC Hospital on November 23. A fried food vendor allegedly stabbed him following an argument.
Immediately after this incident, two people were arrested by members of law enforcement. At the same time, the sharp knife used to injure the doctor was recovered. The alleged father-son duo was arrested.
The arrested are 55-year-old Farid Bepari and his son 25-year-old Shakil Bepari of Malgram Chaparpara area, Bogura Sadar. Soon after the incident, Farid was arrested from Sadar Upazila. And Shakil was detained from the Baluahat area of Sonatala Upazila. A sharp knife in their custody was also recovered.
Allegedly, Farid Bepari’s son Shakil stabbed the intern doctor.
We came to know that Farid and his son Shakil used to sell fried food in front of SZMC Hospital. On the evening of November 23, while buying fried food from them, Fahim got into an argument with the father and his son. At one point, they started shoving. At that time, Shakil hit Fahim with an onion-chopping knife. Later, Fahim was rescued and taken to SZMC Hospital by the people there.
Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Principal, Professor Dr. Rezaul Alam Jewel, said that Fahim was sent to Dhaka on November 28. He died there while undergoing treatment at Ever Care Hospital.
