This morning on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj’s Shibalaya upazila, a bus and a truck collided head-on, killing three female garment workers and injuring eight others.
Our local correspondent, who cited Barangail Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Ibrahim, identified the deceased as Bithi Akter, 35, Sabina Akter, 25, and Koli Begum, 32.
Around 6:15 a.m., a truck travelling in the opposite direction and a bus carrying garment workers collided, according to the OC. The truck veered off the road into a nearby ditch, and the bus sustained significant damage to its front and side.
The OC stated that local residents, highway police, and fire service personnel hurried to the scene to help with the rescue efforts as soon as they heard the news. They then transported the injured to Manikganj Medical College Hospital.
The OC went on, “We will file a case in this regard.”
