An 18-month-old toddler’s body was found in a roadside drain in Agrabad, Chattogram. CCC conservancy workers found Yasin Arafat’s body while cleaning a small drain just 10 feet from his home.
The search was paused at 11:00 p.m. last night and resumed early morning today. The issue of falling into open drains and unprotected canals has been prevalent in the port city since at least 2017.
Previous incidents include a child falling into an open drain in Bakalia, an auto-rickshaw accident in Chashma Hill, a vegetable trader drowning in a canal, and a woman rescued from a canal in Kalurghat last year.
