The tourism sector of the country will get a boost as the government is near completion of preparing the Master Plan by this year, said Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Md Mokammel Hossain.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Md Mokammel Hossain was speaking at the traditional 37th Maharas festival of Manipuri Meetai community at Adampur of Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district on Tuesday.
Md Mokammel Hossain said that people irrespective of caste, creed, religion, casts and colour live in a peaceful environment showing the best example of communal harmony to the rest of the world.
‘This cultural event will play an important role in developing the culture of Manipuri people in India and Bangladesh,’ said Md Mokammel Hossain
He said that Maharas festival of Manipuri Meetai community can attract a good number of tourists every year
Maharas Celebration Committee, Vanubil Community Based Tourism and Bangladesh Tourism Board organized the cultural event.
Like every year, the traditional 37th Maharas festival of Manipuri Meetai community was held in Adampur of Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district on Tuesday.
CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Baord (BTB) Abu Taher Muhammad Zaber was the guest of honor on the occasion.

This festival is celebrated every year on Kartika Purnima Tithi.
The first phase of the program started at 9 am with Gosthlila (Rachal Dance).
The cultural program was attended by Manipuri cultural native dance and martial arts artists from Jawaharlal Nehru Manipuri Dance Academy, The Manipur Thang-ta Cultural Association and MDFS and Chandrika Trust located in Imphal (Manipur), India.
