On the 48th anniversary of his martyrdom and National Mourning Day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation.
She laid a wreath to his grave at Tungipara while keeping silent in remembrance of the architect of independence who had been brutally murdered on August 15, 1975, by disgruntled army personnel.
The prayers at the grave for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, and other martyrs were offered by Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana.
At Bangabandhu’s grave, wreaths were also laid by Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and representatives of numerous AL affiliate organizations.
When the prime minister went to the Banani cemetery in Dhaka, he joined a munajat and offered Fateha.
