On Thursday, the 8th Bangladesh International Cancer Congress got underway in Dhaka to facilitate communication among top researchers and medical professionals on recent developments in the treatment of cancer.
The two-day conference is being hosted by the Oncology Club, the Bangladesh Chapter of the SAARC Federation of Oncologists (SFO), and it is anticipated that medical professionals and cancer survivors will attend.
Organizers stated during the opening ceremony held at a hotel in Dhaka city that the conference serves as a forum to discuss the most recent discoveries in medical research and advancements in cancer treatment across the globe.
The forum offers attendees the chance to network with top researchers and medical professionals working in the field of cancer treatment, giving them access to the most recent developments in this field.
The conference will include a special Young Investigator’s Session and Interactive Session on many common cancers in this region, covering a wide range of unique themes of great interest to young investigators, according to organizers.
Because of bad eating habits and an erratic lifestyle, the number of cancer patients in the nation is rising daily. Air pollution and food adulteration are also blamed for this by cancer experts from home and abroad.
In Bangladesh, over 2.5 million individuals are affected by cancer each year.
Speaking at the opening session, Prof. Dr. M. A. Hai, chairman of the Oncology Club Bangladesh, noted that the number of cancer patients in Bangladesh and other developing nations is rapidly rising.
He claimed that the ailment currently affects a sizable portion of the populace, the majority of whom are untreatable.
Prof. Hai emphasized that the Club’s primary goal is to develop qualified personnel for the nation’s modernization of cancer care.
At this event, there are 900 cancer-specific researchers from around the world as well as 47 notable cancer doctors from 11 different nations.
