During a phone call between the two leaders on 19 June, Monday, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reaffirmed his commitment to working with Bangladesh to advance their bilateral relations.
Sheikh Hasina expressed her confidence in the easy transit of food grains from Ukraine, calling for an immediate end to the ongoing conflict so that food grains from Ukraine, renowned as the ‘bread basket’ of the globe, could be supplied to nations with food shortages.
The Premier of Bangladesh expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the ‘Black Sea Crops Initiative’ under the direction of the UN.
She expressed her hope that such admirable actions will continue in the days to come in this regard. Denys Shmyhal asked the prime minister to represent Ukraine at the UN and other international fora by his side.
Sheikh Hasina stated that Bangladesh respects regional integrity and sovereignty by the goals and tenets of the United Nations. She demanded that all issues be settled amicably and argued that this ideal ought to be upheld everywhere.
She lamented the deaths of common people and children brought on by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Sheikh Hasina noted that war does not benefit either side. The Prime Minister ended their conversation by wishing Denys Shmyhal well.
