Being the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday claimed that she will not be impacted by leasing out Saint Martin’s Island or the entire nation to someone.
She expressed worry about the opposition BNP’s plans to seize power by promising to sell the island. Hasina stressed that Bangladesh has never engaged in hostilities with Myanmar and that its leaders are committed to world peace and peaceful coexistence.
Hasina stressed that the constitution does not allow for the transfer of authority to an unelected government and that the goal of a constitutional crisis is to block the advancement of democracy and the socioeconomic system.
She asked the populace to decide between preserving democratic trends, economic growth, and welfare and returning to the pre-caretaker government era.
Hasina added that Bangladesh would join the BRICS to use multiple currencies to pay for commodities and lessen reliance on one particular trading bloc.
The government is making an effort to control inflation and stop illicit hoarding, which is raising the cost of commodities. Before Eid al-Adha, Hasina also announced that 10 million people would receive free food.
