A wild elephant in Ramu Upazila, Cox’s Bazar, killed a man by trampling on him.
Iman Kanti Chowdhury, the chief of Ramu Police Station, stated that the incident happened on Saturday in the Rajarkul Union’s Chikonchhari area.
The 47-year-old victim, Abdul Haque, lived in the same union in Dhalarmukh. He had been the Dhalarmukh Noyapara Social Committee’s president.
The police claimed that Abdul Haque had left home early in the morning for work-related reasons, citing locals. He came upon a herd of untamed elephants on his way to Chikonchhari to gather paddy. The elephants attacked him and immediately trampled him to death.
Over the past few days, there has been an increase in the number of wild elephants in the area. Residents are terrified as a result of their incursion into residential areas, which has damaged homes and property, according to Rajarkul Union Parishad Chairman Mufizur Rahman.
Police retrieved the body from the scene and wrote a report on the incident, OC Iman Kanti added. Following the conclusion of legal proceedings, the family received the body.
