Bangladesh has been requested to lower its fisheries subsidies by the World Trade Organization (WTO). At a conference in the Swiss hotel President Wilson, Dr. Okonjo Iwela, director general of the WTO, called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told the media about the meeting’s outcome.
The head of the WTO urged to broaden its export base and prioritize the IT and pharmaceutical industries.
Sheikh Hasina stated that Japan and the Maldives have already been contacted about Bangladesh’s lack of deep-sea fishing capability.
Dr. Ali Bin Samik Al Marri, the labor minister for Qatar, met with the prime minister at the same location and expressed his country’s satisfaction with the performance of the Bangladeshi workers.
