Zelensky to Present Peace Plan to Biden to End War with Russia

Volodymyr Zelensky, the leader of Ukraine, stated on Tuesday that he would offer a plan to US President Joe Biden and his two possible successors, but that first, Kyiv needed to be in a strong position. He also stated that the battle with Russia will eventually end in negotiation.

Speaking at a press conference, the Ukrainian president said that while Kyiv’s three-week-old incursion into Russia’s Kursk area was a part of the strategy, other diplomatic and economic measures were also included.

“This plan’s primary goal is to compel Russia to terminate the conflict. And I really hope that (that it would be) just for Ukraine “He spoke to reporters in Kyiv about the conflict that Russia’s full-scale invasion of that country in February 2022 had started.

He stated he would also discuss the concept with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and most likely with Republican Donald Trump, the two contenders for the US presidential race. He did not go into greater detail about the next steps.

Zelensky said he was getting ready to meet with Biden and that he planned to travel to the United States in September to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.

His statements suggested that he views a worldwide peace summit as the primary venue for negotiations, to which Ukraine has expressed a desire for Russia to send delegates.

  1. Zelensky intends to give Biden and the contenders for US president a peace proposal.
  2. The strategy includes Kyiv’s push into the Kursk region of Russia.
  3. Zelensky rejects Putin’s compromises and labels communication as pointless.

Despite Kyiv’s efforts to win over the global south, the first summit to advance the city’s vision of peace was held in June in Switzerland and explicitly excluded Russia while drawing a huge number of delegations—but not from China, the world’s second largest economy.

Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, declared on August 19 that negotiations were impossible following Ukraine’s significant cross-border incursion into Russia on August 6.

During his phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited Kyiv last week, expressed his support for an early and peaceful conclusion to the Ukraine conflict.
