Since the former president’s mugshot was taken at the Fulton County jail in Georgia after turning himself in for the Georgia election subversion case, the Trump 2024 presidential campaign has raised $7.1 million, according to CNN.
After his indictment and arraignment in connection with the federal January 6 case in Washington, as well as his surrender and processing at the Fulton County jail in Georgia, Trump’s campaign raised over $20 million over the course of the last three weeks.
The insider further disclosed that following his detention in Georgia, the campaign had raised $4.18 million. According to CNN, today brought in the most money during the whole campaign.
Politico was the first to reveal the funding totals.
The first mug image of a former US president was used on items that Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign began selling after his imprisonment, according to The Washington Post.
Trump has made an effort to appear “unfazed and unbowed” in the mug shot despite being charged four times since March, according to the New York Times.
In an interview with Fox News, he said, “It is not a comfortable feeling, especially when you have done nothing wrong.”
The Washington Post claims that Trump has managed to capitalize on his mug image.
About 90 minutes after Trump’s release from an Atlanta jail on Thursday, goods using his mug shot—including T-shirts, mugs, koozies, and bumper stickers—began to sell. “NEVER SURRENDER!” is written next to the products, which include shirts for USD 34.
Trump’s legal issues have gotten worse recently as two indictments have been brought by prosecutors in connection with his attempts to invalidate the results of the 2020 election, according to CNN.
Four federal charges were filed against the former president earlier this month by special counsel Jack Smith. The indictment claims that Trump “was determined to remain in power” and that he and his accomplices planned a scheme to rig the election in the run-up to the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Trump entered a not-guilty plea to the accusations against him, which included conspiracy to defraud the US and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, who served as Trump’s attorney, as well as Mark Meadows, a former White House chief of staff, was among the 18 co-defendants who were named in the 41 counts that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis filed against Trump last week. According to the indictment, the defendants conspired as an “enterprise” to rig the state’s election, which is one of the accusations for breaking the state’s anti-racketeering legislation, CNN reported.
Trump also made a memorable return to X, the website that replaced Twitter, to publish a fundraising message for the first time since January 2021.
“I walked into the lion’s den with one simple message on behalf of our entire movement: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER OUR MISSION TO SAVE AMERICA,” Trump said in a statement on Thursday. He requested financial support from his supporters “to evict” President Joe Biden “during this dark chapter in our nation’s history.”
