Sara Hossain, a Bangladeshi lawyer, has been appointed as the head of the UN Human Rights Council’s ‘fact-finding mission on Iran.’
According to a notice from the organization, this three-member mission was formed on Tuesday. Sara Hussain-led mission includes Pakistan’s Shaheen Sardar Ali, a professor at Warwick University in the UK, and Viviana Kristichevich, an Argentinian lawyer.
According to the notification, the mission will investigate allegations of human rights violations related to the recent protests in Iran. Especially women and children will be under their investigation.
The three-member committee has been asked to collect information and determine the circumstances surrounding the allegations of human rights violations, collate the information, and analyze the information received.
Iran has admitted that 200 people have been killed in the last three months due to the repression of women protesting against the obligation to wear hijab.
