Thousands of laborers from Gaza who had crossed into Israel and the occupied West Bank were returned to their home country today.
Some of the Gazan laborers left the besieged Gaza Strip and returned via the Kerem Shalom crossing, which is located east of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.
“Those workers from Gaza who were in Israel on the day the war began will be returned to Gaza,” stated the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday night.
At the same time that Israel is bombarding Palestinian territory, over 9,000 individuals have died, the majority of them women and children, according to the declaration.
The UN has said again and time again that there is no safe haven in Gaza because of the strikes that have targeted homes, schools, hospitals, and places of worship.
Employees entering the Palestinian enclave reported that following the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, they were arrested and mistreated by Israeli police. A few still had plastic decals with numbers wrapped around their thighs.
A worker from the central Gaza Strip’s Maghazi refugee camp named Jamal Ismail stated, “We used to serve them, work for them, in houses, in restaurants, and markets in return for the lowest prices and despite that, we were humiliated.”
Palestinian sources said that after Israeli forces finished blocking off roads late on Thursday, residents of the northern parts of Gaza would have to stay in the southern part of the country.
