Over 20 Killed at Market Shelling in Sudan

Metropolis Desk –

A coalition of pro-democracy lawyers stated in a statement that more than 20 people were murdered on Sunday after shells struck a market in a suburb of the capital of Sudan, Khartoum.

Between the soldiers of army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his former deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who is in charge of the Rapid Support soldiers (RSF), it was the most recent bloodshed in combat that has occurred since April.

The shells struck the Omdurman market during a fierce firefight between the opposing forces, according to a statement from the organization for pro-democracy attorneys.

This statement was given to AFP and stated, “More than 20 civilians have been killed and others have been injured.” The committee monitors civilian casualties from the conflict as well as rights breaches that occur during it.

According to a medical source, 15 civilians were killed by shells that struck Khartoum’s homes on Saturday.

The two sides have fought bloody clashes in Omdurman on several occasions. Witnesses report that the conflict has extended south of Khartoum, even though it was previously confined mostly to the capital and western Darfur.
