Meeting with Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, and US Deputy Assistant Secretary Afreen Akhter discussed bilateral concerns, including elections and the Rohingya crisis.
Akhter reaffirmed Washington’s demand for Bangladesh to have free and fair elections, and Momen reassured her that Bangladesh is committed to doing so.
The discussion at the meeting centered on US trade and direct investment, enduring development ties, the Middle East, the recent visit of the impartial, nonpartisan election survey team, and aiding Rohingya refugees.
Tomorrow, Akhter is supposed to go to the Rohingya camp. The US embassy expressed satisfaction with the meeting.
